Taryn van Deventer joined the firm in May 2014 to provide commercial and dispute resolution legal counsel.
Taryn has a broad range of commercial and dispute resolution experience in both domestic and international construction and mining projects including general commercial advisory, specific contract negotiation and drafting, litigation, arbitration, mediation and settlement of disputes. Taryn has managed large-scale disputes from inception to settlement for entities listed on the JSE and internationally as well as large unlisted companies, advising on all aspects of dispute avoidance and resolution.

Some examples of Taryn’s legal counsel:
- Commercial and dispute resolution legal counsel for two JSE listed entities, 2010-2014.
- Acted for a mining entity in disputes pertaining to the commissioning of its platinum mine.
- Acted for an international mining entity in a number of contractual disputes, arbitrations and mediations.
- Managed and ran large-scale litigation and arbitrations for local mining entities in relation to EPCM contracts, drilling agreements, service level agreements, shareholder disputes and other contractual and commercial issues.
- Acted for a mining entity in relation to disputes pertaining to open cast mining operation projects and pipeline projects.
- Assisted in managing disputes in relation to the construction of the New Beacon Bay Hospital in East London.
