FIDIC 2017 Breakfast Series

The FIDIC contract drafting committees have been hard at work drafting revisions to the various contract forms in current use in South Africa. At the International FIDIC contract users conference held in December 2016 in London, delegates were given an insight into these changes.

These include:

  • Changes to the rainbow suite 1999 FIDIC Contracts (Red, Yellow and Silver Books)
  • The Emerald Book, a new contract drafted specifically for tunnelling and underground works
  • Client consultant model services agreement (the White Book)
  • Revisions to the Blue Book for dredging and reclamation contracts.

The publication of these revised and or new books is imminent or will take place during the course of 2017 or early 2018.

In addition, FIDIC are also devising “Golden Principles” against which FIDIC Contracts are to be drafted and  can be measured to ensure they comply with the culture of evenly allocated risk espoused by FIDIC.

Join us for the second breakfast in the series where MDA Director, Odette Potgieter, will discuss the various developments and changes to the FIDIC White Book (client/consultant model services agreement).  Odette will give an insight into the changes to the contract form and what this will mean when administering contracts.
